A talented field of just nine three-year-olds has been confirmed to line up for this weekend’s Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, offering punters exceptional value from a betting point of view and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
A notable performer over just three starts through the 2014 autumn two-year-old season, Nostradamus has opened as and maintained status as outright favourite for success in the San Domenico Stakes, currently available at $3.80 odds, ahead of Washington Heights ($4.20), Ygritte ($5) and Bugatty ($6).
Will Nostradamus justify favouritism and win the 2014 San Domenico Stakes, or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?
A standout in races early in the 2014 Autumn Racing Carnival, Law has reportedly taken well to work since transferring to the care of leading trainer Chris Waller and offers punters sensational value to win the 2014 San Domenico Stakes at $11 odds, or $3.20 to run a place. Debuting with an exceptional victory in the Listed NSW Thoroughbred Breeders’ Plate (1000m) on October 5th, the Denman colt returned to the track in typically strong form this year, winning the Adaptra Handicap (1000m) by nearly four lengths first-up and finishing a credible fourth in the Group 2 Silver Slipper (1100m). Returning to the paddock after failing to beat a single runner home in the major Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on April 5th, Waller is confident the form displayed by Law in two strong barrier trials over recent weeks will translate to a polished performance in the 2014 San Domenico Stakes.
One of the most consistent performers over the 2014 autumn two-year-old season, Ygritte will likely receive the run of the race from the ideal barrier 3 this weekend, and is an excellent chance of first-up success in the 2014 San Domenico Stakes. Strolling home to win the Facebook Friends Race Day Maiden (1000m) on debut on February 1st, the Snitzel filly performed well to secure three back-to-back second placings in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m), Group 3 TBV Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Royal Randwick Stakes (1200m) most recently. Confirmed to be partnered in renowned jockey Kerrin McEvoy, Ygritte has so-far received the greatest market share of wagers for success in the 2014 San Domenico Stakes, but still offers punters great value at current $5 odds.
Also performing to a high standard over four starts in his maiden racing preparation, Bugatty is yet to register much more than a sprinkling of wagers for success in the 2014 San Domenico Stakes and as a result offers punters great value for money at $6 odds. finishing second to Chivalry in the Moonee Valley Plate (1000m) on debut on December 28th, Bugatty continued to impress when winning the Better Beyond Plate (1000m) on January 11th and finishing second to Nayeli in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) on February 1st. Despite finishing eighth, the Dreamscape colt became the first two-year-old since 1992 to line up in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) on February 15th, more than stamping his claims as one to watch.
