Pariah has continued to herald plenty of interest in San Domenico Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and remains a clear $2.50 favourite, ahead of Condor Heroes ($5.50) and Godolphin filly Jorda ($6).

Will Pariah justify favouritism and win the San Domenico Stakes, or will one of his rivals post an upset?

Pariah ($2.50)

Pariah has shown plenty of top-line ability through his short career so far and is undoubtedly the class horse of the 2017 San Domenico Stakes field. Debuting for a smart win in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) on January 28th, Pariah ran second in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) before finishing a close second behind Catchy in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m). While failing to fire in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the Redoute’s Choice colt has trialled extremely well in the lead-up to his competitive return and should just win the San Domenico Stakes.

Taking Aim ($11)

Taking Aim has also been a strong and consistent performer through his short career and is over the San Domenico Stakes odds at his current $11 quote to win, or $3.10 to finish in the first three. While finishing towards the tail of the field in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes, the Choisir colt arrived in Queensland for a smart win in the Listed Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) on May 6th. Progressing to second in the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), Taking Aim was last seen running on well to finish third in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) on June 10th. Drawn well in barrier 6, Taking Aim has the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

Jorda ($6)

Jorda has not been seen at the races in 2017 and has only made one competitive appearance to date, but she is well-bred, a proven performer and a live chance of winning the San Domenico Stakes. Trialling well prior to her racing debut, the Exceed And Excel filly stormed home to win the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) on October 1st and was immediately sent to the paddock. Having trialled well in the lead-up to this race, Jorda will be ridden by Glyn Schofield on Saturday, who will have plenty of options from the rails draw.
